"Essential yet strangely deceiving" - 4 January 2006
This is one purchase that is almost essential if you have a 360. It opens up so many more opportunities, especially through Xbox Live marketplace. The ability to download trailers and playable demos is a godsend, as is the ability to store music to listen to while you play.If you had the old Xbox and still have some of the games, there is a good chance they'll work on the 360 with a hi-definition facelift. Again, you need the hard disk to do this. The hard disk itself is laptop hardisk, repackaged to look like part of the console. They chose a laptop disk because of its smaller dimensions. Don't be fooled though, it may say 20 Gigabytes but you don't really have anywhere near 20 gig to play with. You'll start off with 12 or 13 gigabytes of free space. The rest is taken up by formatting, the emulation software for playing Xbox 1 games and a puzzle game called Hexic HD, which is actually quite addictive. Plus some decidedly average music tracks. Its a must-have if you have a 360, but at more than £50 for a low capacity hard disk, it smacks as a bit of a rip-off. Especially when you can buy a 200 gigabyte PC hard drive for £70.

"Must have" - 30 May 2006
First of all I was tempted to give this less than 5 stars as its very expensive seeing that it is only 20GB, but the fact remains it is a must have accessory for the XBOX 360. The main reason to have the harddrive is back compatibility with a selected number of previous generation of xbox games such as Halo 2. Secondly its a must have for Xbox live. It is correct you don't need a hard drive for xbox live but you wont be able to download extra content, demos and movies. The game demos are usually around the 800MB mark which obviously is not going to fit on a memory card. Also you can store music on the harddrive to play back during games like on the previous Xbox

"xbox 360 hard drive add on" - 10 January 2006
I bought mine as a seperate item for my core xbox 360.its extremely easy to fit with no hassle at all.As long as its clipped on securely. It comes with a free game and some trial music already downloaded on it.This device is definately needed if you want to play any old Xbox games on your 360 as you will need to store an emulator program on this drive which you can down load from microsoft. The hard drive doesnt clutter up the sleek lines of the xbox 360 like the memory sticks do as you can save your high scores to the hard drive so no sticks needed.

"essential item" - 5 March 2006
the 360 hard drive is certainly needed if you want that extra room for downloading game demos game saves and trailers, very easy to install, just clip it on the top and away you go,a few people have said that you need to install an emulator if you still want to play original xbox games. This isnt the case,it already has it installed and ready to go,the only reason i gave this product 4 stars is the fact that it's actually 13 gig not 20,because of the emulator, even so it's still a must have add on for the 360

"Not worth the price" - 30 April 2007
If you are looking at this and you are thinking its right for you, its not, you are being conned at this price, I've been wanting the new 120GB hard drive for quite a while now, and although im still waiting the wait is worth it, this is because the HDD 120GB drive, is priced at 170 dollars, and a quick check on www.xe.com confirms that 170.00 USD (united state dollars) = 85.3642 GBP (United Kingdom pounds).
So for 20 quid more, you are getting 100GB.
Just think about it ;)
the 120GB drive is expected in around 30 days.

"If you want to get the most out of xbox live then get one" - 3 July 2007
The 20gb drive has all the space you'll need to download extra maps, game modes ect as well as loads of xbox live arcade games and videos etc. There's no set price for the 120gb model in the uk as yet, and after using an xbox 360 for some time it's reasonable to say that all that space will be wasted except for the most hardcore of the hardcore, or those who wish to fill it with mp3's, which I would guess most tech freaks already have stored on their pc. So if your xbox 360 is hdless then this is the way to go. Expensive, yes, worth it, yes.

"A good idea? Possibly..." - 25 March 2007
The reason for the title is the price, not anything against the product but mainly becasue in one month or so a 120gb hard drive will come out with the Xbox 360 elite. The hard drive will cost about £90 and so for 1 1/2 times the price of the price of the 20 gb you get 5 tims the memory! It doesn't work out.
Basically, you do this. Buy this if you've got an Xbox 360 and need it quickly. If you havn't gt an Xbox, wait until the Xbox elite comes out, predicted to be late April, and buy the 120 gb, or maybe buy the Xbox 360 elite itself. Your choice.

"Great console which is well worth buying." - 17 February 2006
This console is very good and offers gamers more for their money and is much better looking than the previous xbox. The console itself is very well made with a nice look and a fantastic new menu system that makes the console very easy to use and play on. The wireless controller fits into your hands extremely well and is comfortable and responsive. The hard drive which comes with the premium version is essential in my opinion becuase it allows you to save both games and media and also play older xbox titles. The most important aspect with a new console is probably the graphics and the 360's graphics are in one word BREATHTAKING even if you are playing on a standard tv you can see a massive improvement in lighting effects and the sharpness of the picture. The console is by no means perfect though. In a few of the release games (NBA 06, Tiger Woods 06) there is some slowdown which in some circumstances can be very frustrating. The console is also quite noisy when playing games and can get very hot if it has been on for long periods of time. In my opinion there is more positive than negative but you have to remember that other consoles in the past have had problems as well so don't be put off by a little noise and slowdown. There are some fantastic games ( Kameo, Project Gotham 3, Perfect Dark, DOA4 and Call of Duty 2) which make the console a must have and offer brilliant gameplay which other consoles can't offer you. If you are looking for a new games console then the xbox 360 is the best out there and is well worth buying. Hope this helps.
