"Star wars fans!" - 31 December 2003
They just keep on churning out Star wars games now and to be fair the best so far is Star wars Knights of the old republic but for those who like a bit more action then this game is good. You start out by selecting your jedis look as well as saber colour and begin your life as a jedi trainee in Luke skywalkers Jedi academy. You have a list of missions to do and they can be done in any order and finishing some missions pushes the story along and finishing missions lets you advance your Jedi skills and powers. The graphics are good and represent the star wars universe very well and the lightsaber effects are fantastic. Special mention has to be given to the sound effects complete with light saber swooshes and laser blasts. This game also offers the chance to use vehicles like speeder bikes and scout walkers, You can also use stationary laser cannons to blast the enemy. The multiplayer is fun with plenty of maps and game modes and some good bots for you and a freind to team up against. A word of warning though i did come up against a bug in the game on one level, The computer controlled jedi playing along on a mission with me got stuck on one of the cut scenes meaning i had to start the whole level again. So in short good fun but maybe best for star wars fans.

"A Good Star Wars Game? :o" - 2 June 2005
With many attempts of Lucas Art to perfect a franchise in the gaming world not living up to expectations such as many of the recent film titles (Phantom Menace Game, Revenge of the Sith Game). I was suprised when i found a liking to this first person style game. Although the "Star wars : KNights of the old republic" Duo of titles have made a name from themselves and I can myself see the playability of the game however I found the fact its set no where near the films with characters i can not relate to frustrating. With Jedi Acadamy, there are characters you know such as Chewbaccha, Luke Skywalker Boba Fett. The game is set after the sixth film (Return of the Jedi) where Luke Skywalker has an acadamy of students. You play the role of a student, (who you customise to look how you like, later in the game you customise the abilities such as force - light/dark side). It makes the player of the game feel like you are living an extention of the film with a fairly decent storyline although does have a few flaws. The single player mode does not last the longest, and the repeated lightsaber duels can get frustrated however with the force abilities and multiple weopons at your hands, you can make each duel original. One thing i did not like was the character of Kyle Katorn - readers who have played Jedi OUtcast will know who he is - I would of rather be the apprentice of Skywalker however if i could live with it, im sure most players could! Overall I throroughly enjoyed it and waiting for the next hopefully!! 4 Stars out of 5 - due to feeling that you do to many duels and not long enough storyline! However that aside.. brilliant!

"Everything that 'Jedi Outcast' should have been." - 11 July 2004
THE STORY: Jaden Kor is just begining to learn the ways of the Jedi from Luke Skywalker and Kyle Katarn when the Disciples of Ragnos cult begin harvesting the Force-essence from planets across the galaxy. Across twenty missions and various planets (including ones familiar to fans, such as Yavin 4, Tatooine, Bakura, Corellia, Hoth, Coruscant, Vjun, Chandrila, Byss, Ord Mantell, Tanaab and Korriban) Jaden fights Stormtroopers, Sandpeople, rancors, wampas, Noghri and Dark Jedi on the path to becoming a Jedi Knight.WHAT'S GOOD: For once Lucasarts have been able to learn from their mistakes (or perhaps Raven is responsible) and have created a sequel with none of it's predecessor's failings. The platform element of the game has been smoothed out and the notion of physics has been applied, there are now fairly regular checkpoints so that you won't be howling in frustration at being sent way back to the beginning of the level, the lightsaber combat now has some structure and skill to it and, best of all, it doesn't do that irritating bleeping sound when your objectives change! Also, rather than a few huge linear levels, there are now shorter levels which you can choose among and which each have a unique twist, be it escaping an Imperial prison, defeating a (actually quite scary) mutant rancor or riding swoop bikes at ridiculous speeds. All in all, this game is very satisfying and really gives you a well-rounded Star Wars gaming experience. If you like thinking games, buy 'Knights of the Old Republic', but if you want a bit of sabre-swinging action, then this is the game for you. WHAT'S BAD: A few of the levels do seem to be slightly repackaged versions of levels from other Star Wars games, but that's not a major issue. The only other problem I had with the game is the fact that almost every single enemy Dark Jedi kills you at least once, sending you back to your last save, which means you have to save after every fight (and there's dozens and dozens!). The best game for fans of Star Wars action!

"The force is with this one" - 22 June 2005
I love this game. The main reason: You get to create your own jedi, build your own light saber, single, dual or double, you get to weild the force, and did i mention light saber building? whats not to like. you start the game as a student on his/her way to the newly formed jedi academy to learn the ways of the force from the legendary Luke skywalker,on your approach you get shot down and a more sinister plot starts to unravel that will have you choose the path of the lightside or the darkside.how the story unfolds, is by you completeing a set mount of missions(in any order)basically earn your rank as jedi; these missions may involve various things like killing rancors saving people etc and then you get a longer more challenging mission which unfolds the story. If you ever wanted to be a jedi, this game is a must!

"A game worthy of remembering" - 3 June 2004
Overall a worthy addition to the vast range of Star Wars computer games available. I completed it a little too quick but on a higher difficulty setting I imagine I would have spent a little more time on it. After playing the excellence of Knights of the Old Republic before I bought this game I was a little annoyed at the restricted freedom but Jedi Academy is not a RPG and it was released before. I enjoyed the lightsaber battles greatly and the integration of some really great moves such as running along walls obviously inspired by the Matrix game by Atari. I also enjoyed how knowledgeable the writers were of the canonical Star Wars universe with a story that allowed me to escape into a realm I have read of so much and meet characters I have become so familiar with. The multiplayer of this game is engaging and a promising development for Star Wars games. I was a little annoyed at how I could not customise my 'bot' opponents, selecting what specific weapons they carried and such like but still had great fun. Also having a lightsaber battle with a mate is a dream come true.

"Jedi Academy" - 6 January 2005
I have just finished playing this game and have found it on the whole very enjoyable. The game play is fairly fast and the controls easy to master the graphics are not spectacular but OK with a first or third person view depending on weapons. character progression is handled well through the game giving you the option to increase your force powers before each new mission. This game is more of a FPS with sabers than a true RPG so if you are expecting a version of Knights of the old republic you will be dissapointed. However if you got sick to death of watching loading screens talking to boring characters as well as the turn based action on "KOTOR" and want to work your way through a good story fighting with the force at your finger tips then this is the game for you. Good Entertaining Fun

"The best instalment in the Jedi Knight series!" - 2 December 2003
Well, what fun Lucasarts must be having with the merchandise of the films selling out, mostly their games! The Jedi Knight series games are really the best Star Wars games around and this game is the best example. Jedi Academy is not another Kyle Katern adventure but where you the player get to create your own character(gender, clothing, etc)and best of all, construct your very own lightsaber! Your created character is sent into the daily life of Jedi, as you learn the ways of the force! You occassionally battle along Kyle Katarn, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker and many Jedi students to stop another attack from the Imperials and the Sith. With double-bladed, single bladed and dual-bladed lightsabers for you to wield, you must help the galaxy from the biggest peril yet!10/10

"Sweet but short..." - 5 February 2004
The game Jedi Academy is a decent Star Wars game brought to you by Activision. The graphics for this game are slightly dated but it's good Light Saberin' action! Even if your not a fan of Star Wars i'd recommend you give the game a try, rent before you buy. Soon you will learn all the moves from running up walls and back flipping off them! You have 3 choices of Light Saber.....Single, Dual Light Sabers or double bladed (Darth Maul Style) There are many options in Multiplayer and you can play online with Live. The story mode is good because you can customize your own character...but the Story Mode is too short. This is a great Multipayer game to play on Live or via System link or with your friends! But if your looking for a long decent story go and buy Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. This is a must-buy game for Xbox Live owners! 4 Stars because of short storyline...
