Editorial: The Locust Horde is back and only you and your squad of elite soldiers stand between them and the death of every human being on the planet Sera. In Gears of War 2, entire cities are being destroyed in single attacks, and you must take the fight to the Locusts by battling them in their own underground lairs. You can play the whole of story mode with a friend | The Boomer enemies are back in many different varieties | The game’s ethos of “destroyed beauty” is still in full effect | Shoot the Ticker enemies before they explode in your face | The bestselling third-person shooter is back: bigger, better, and gorier than ever before. But you can't just blast your way through it--this game requires far more tactics and cunning than your usual mindless shooter. A refined cover system means you can use the enemy as “meat shields” as well as hide behind the fully destructible scenery. The graphics are looking better than ever, and the game is purposefully more bloody and violent than before. The story and characterisation has also been improved, making this an action game sequel with brains as well as brawn. Key Features - Brothers in arms: Have a friend join or leave your single player game whenever you want, and even battle together on different difficultly levels.
- Evolving enemies: You finally get a chance to take down the giant Brumak enemies, as well as even larger monsters and new creatures, such as the explosive Ticker.
- Practise makes perfect: Practice the multiplayer mode on your own with computer controlled “bots”--then use the new matchmaking system to find a real opponent of the same skill level.
- Chainsaw massacre: If you loved the chainsaw bayonet in the original game, you now can duel computer or human opponents with gaming’s messiest weapon attachment.
- Hordes of options: Try the new five-player Horde mode, where you all face off against an unending wave of enemies, or any of the seven other multiplayer modes.
About the Developer: Epic Games Based in North Carolina, Epic is well known for games such as Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. They also make the Unreal Engine graphics technology, which is used by many other companies in many different games.

"Been Under A Rock?" - 11 September 2008
If you dont know anything about this game by now you must have been living under a rock. For me this is my first review of anything, i just dont normally do it. But i just felt i had to for this game.
Im not a serious gamer, i dont spend all hours online, but i do enjoy a really good game.
I bought the first one, and even bought a bit of bonus tat to go with it (ebay collectables)
This game looks so much bigger than other first person shooters. The gunfire physics and dynamic are really well balanced and make the game a dream to play. In terms of realism this has to be the gran turismo of gun related gaming.
The new techniques to this game look fun to master as well, with the game having such an intuitive cover system first time round I cant wait to get to grips with the "human" shield technique. Not to mention the all new insanely cool weapons (a gun with a chainsaw? Yes ai!)
To sum up i just want to put into context how good a game this really is. I bought the original collectors edition, having not even seen gameplay i forked out £40. But i dont like first person shooters. It persuaded me that much. I also dont like the xbox 360. I Hate the machine and company ethos with a passion, so i borrow my brothers.
And yet this game was so good first time round i bought the full blown edition without personally owning a console myself.
I still dont have a 360 and yet im still getting this. 7/11 cant come quick enough!

"Best game ever " - 13 October 2008
Gears of war 2 is the sequel to the 1st game which in my eyes is classified as the best Xbox 360 game to date, simply because it has an unparalleled singleplayer campaign mode we have seen this throught videos, it has 8 new and old multiplayer modes, new characters, new weapons, new enemies, new vehicles/monsters. Brapp this game has the full package and if you are a gears of war fan, then i suggest buying the limited edition only £5 extra and you are getting alot.
